Greets one and all! I'm a little late with posting this one! In this selection I feature tracks from the album by Kojato & The Afro Latin Cougaritas 'All About Jazz'. So if like me you enjoy your Afro funk mixed up with some Jazz & latin grooves this one's for you! Included in the selection a nice interpretation of a 'Stevie Classic' followed by the original from the master himself! I do hope you enjoy my selection!

Hi & Welcome! This is the latest 'Jazzfunking' selection. In this show I feature some of the great 're-edits' from a new double CD collection. As well as a passion for the jazzfunk I 'grew up' with these wonderful tracks from the Phiadelphia label! The revised interest in these tracks is very welcome and most have been faithfully reproduced, extended, remixed, re-edited (call it what you like) without compromising on the quality of the originals! More to come a new 4 CD Comp out soon and after that 10 CD Box Set compiled by Ralph Tee! Not to be missed! I hope you enjoy the selection and the extra half hour requested by some of our Chat Room Listeners!

The 'Jap' Jazzfunking Show
January 02, 2012 02:42 AM PST
Happy New Year! Funky greets welcome you into 2012 in what we all hope will be a better and brighter year than 2011. Well we mostly live in hope! What's not in doubt is the continuing great music that fills the world with inspiring 'Chooons' and that all important 'funky feel good factor'. So this podcast sees my last show from 2011 on SoulPower-Radio. I call it the 'Jap Jazzfunking Connection' because of some excellent cuts both old & new from Japan. Japan has always been a great supporter and instigator of jazzfunk from the early 70's. My first purchase that cost me 'an arm and a leg' was Wilbert Longmire 'Sunny Side Up' from 1978. Fortunately the Internet has made these albums so much more accessible now definately a great way to build on the collection. My featured album of the week (see pic on the right) is the equally awesome 45 aka Swing -O 'Stop! Look! Listen! Three tracks from this although the whole album is quality from start to finish! More Jap Jazz from Indigo Jam Unit (check their You-Tube Vids) and Jazztronik with 'Real Clothes' - Amazing! Full Playlist below! Any queries on the music or future requests please do drop me a mail! Cheers - DJ-JFK
The Jazzfunking Show Ft. My Best of 2011 Albums Pt. 2
December 20, 2011 03:45 AM PST
Funky Yuletide Greetings! More 'Best of 2011 Albums' in this edition. I'll probably include this feature well into the new year as 2011 was another bumper year for new music! As well as my 'Best of' a nice helping of 'Jazzfunking' courtesy of Freddie Hubbard, Johnny Hammond, Mandrill, some 'modern' Jazzfunking from Ten City, Max Beesley's High Vibes and The Middlewood Sessions. Two tracks from a recently discovered Gemm of an album called 'Shades of Brown' from the John Wagner Coalition all the way back from 1976 featuring some excellent interpretations of James Brown classics. So much more refreshing than those terrible remixes of late! Check it out or mail me for more info!
Slap bang in the middle I feature '3 from the Xmas Tree' three tracks that allways epitomise Xmas for me. I'm not a huge fan of Xmas music and whenever I hear Slade playing in a shop it's an immediate exit for me So please enjoy this weeks selection - one more show before Xmas a 'Best of Classic Jazzfunk' minus those oh so predictable Caister cuts!
Have Fun(k)

This will probably extend into the next two shows as this year has produced so many amazing new albums! As always I hope you enjoy the selection full playlist below!

Jazzfunking on SoulPower!

Welcome to the latest instalment of my Jazzfunking shows for SoulPower-Radio! Lots of nice classic Jazzfunking in this Pod and some Soulful choons to provide a mix! Half way through I've included my first 'Cheeseboard Platter' with three selections from the 'cheesy' side of the street but also with that satisfying feeling like a nice chunk of Cheddar! Especially for Millie listening in from the U.S. two slices of Sam Cooke back to back from 'The Man That Invented Soul'. New music from Betty Wright & The Roots and yet another alternate take on the George Duke classic 'Brazilian Love Affair' We end as we started with some Afrobeat to provide continued refreshment to those ears & feet! As always I hope you enjoy the selection and please do drop a comment as you browse by! - DJ - JFK!

The Jazzfunking Show (Sunlight Edition)
November 14, 2011 04:39 AM PST
Greets one and all! Another 'Jazzfunking' Podcast from my SoulPower-Radio Friday night spot! In this edition I'm featuring the wonderful new album from SunlightSquare called 'Brittania Shing - A - Ling'. This is another masterpiece from Claudio Passavanti together with an amazing line up of Musicians and vocalists recorded live @Miloco Studios in London. The album has 9 amazing tracks including covers of Marlena Shaw's 'California Soul', Nowhere to Run and Land of 1000 Dances. However for me the outstanding track is the cover of Deodato's classic 'Skyscrapers' - Awesome! Check out SunlightSquare's Official Home Page and watch a great 45 min Vid of their concert at London's Jazz Cafe (a venue I've often visited) recorded in 2009!
As well as four tracks from SunlightSq' some great Jazzfunking from Lonnie Listen Smith, Ronnie Laws, Richard Evans and some vintage 'Cold Blood' from deep in the Jazzfunking Crates! Always I hope you enjoy the selection and feel free to drop a comment as you browse by!
The Jazzfunking Show for SoulPower-Radio
November 05, 2011 09:36 AM PDT
Hi Jazzfunkateers! Welcome to another Pod in my Jazzfunking series for SoulPower-Radio.com In this edition some new tracks from Cedric Le'Mont (dedicated to my good friend Angel G), Omar Cunningham, Imaani and a great dedication to the late Gil Scott Heron from Patchworks called RIP with John Coltrane. In the middle we slow things right down with two of my favourite female vocalists, the late Phyllis Hyman and from a great Remastered 2 CD album of 'Touch Me in The Morning' an alternative version that in my opinion far excels the original! I really hope you enjoy the selection and do drop a comment as you browse by!
